Kissing fish: pizza dough bags filled with smoked salmon

Anyone who likes to go to the sea knows the benefits of a delicious fish sandwich. The following recipe shows you in which special way you can still prepare a “fish sandwich”. Instead of a bun, you just use pizza dough. So if you are into smoked salmon, cream cheese and spinach, you should definitely imitate these “kissing fish”.

For this you need:

  • finished pizza dough (diameter: approx. 28 cm)
  • 150 g spinach leaves
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 clove of garlic, diced
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 80 g cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chopped dill
  • 20 g roasted almond flakes
  • 40 g feta
  • 80 g smoked salmon
  • 1 black olive
  • 1 egg
  • salt
  • pepper

That is how it goes:

1.) Place the pizza dough on baking paper and cut it in at the top and bottom with a pizza cutter almost to the middle. The piece in the middle of the dough that has not been cut should be about 2 cm long.

2.) Mix cream cheese with dill and pepper and put a tablespoon of it on each half of the dough.

3.) Now sweat chopped onions and garlic in oil and add the spinach. Season everything with salt and pepper. Also, briefly roast the flaked almonds in a separate pan.

4.) Spread the spinach on the cream cheese.

5.) Crumble the feta over the spinach.

6.) Top with roasted almond flakes.

7.) Now put a piece of smoked salmon on top of the filling.

8.) Brush the edges of the dough with beaten egg.

9.) Fold the upper and lower third of the dough halves together over the filling and press the edges of the dough together with your fingers.

10.) Press the back edge of the dough in with a fork. So the dumplings are well closed.

11.) Use a pizza cutter to remove a small strip from the back edge of the pockets at the top and bottom so that a “fin look” is created. Use the remnants of the dough to shape the gills of the fish.

12.) Pikse a scale pattern into the dough using a straw.

13.) Cut a black olive in half and use it as eyes for the fish. Brush the entire dough with the beaten egg. Put the dumplings in the oven on a baking sheet at 180 ° C for 15 minutes.
