7 signs that you are in a one-sided relationship

A relationship is a very beautiful thing, as long as the partners are on an equal footing. Unfortunately, there are people who are in one-sided relationships. The main reason for this is that some people need so much privacy and attention that they would do anything to maintain a relationship, even with a partner who gives nothing in return. In the long run, this type of relationship is unhealthy because it can leave psychological scars on the giving partner.

This article highlights situations that may indicate that you are in a one-sided relationship.

1. You pretend

Do you hide your emotions from your partner for fear that they will be annoyed by them? This should never be the case in a peer-to-peer relationship. After all, your partner should support you in all aspects of life. For better and for worse.

2. You put your needs aside

It’s been a while since you and your partner did something fun? So you should be asking yourself why. In a relationship, compromises have to be made at one point or another. If the needs and interests of one of the partners become less and less important, it is a sign of a one-sided relationship. This shows that the partner does not value the other person’s hobbies and needs and only considers their own needs to be important.

3. You are the driving force

The plans for dates, outings, or even writing messages come mainly from you? In a one-sided relationship, one of the partners always feels that he has to animate and “entertain” the other. On the other hand, the other partner always makes you feel like you’re not doing enough for the relationship.

4. You feel exhausted mentally permanently

This rejection of the partner leads to the fact that the donor partner cannot relax, because he is constantly under pressure to want to satisfy the other. Romantic gestures are constantly planned, for example, in the hope of eventually obtaining the recognition of the partner. However, you get disappointed time and time again, so that at some point you are just mentally exhausted and you feel “worn out”.

5. You constantly doubt yourself

You think that you are not meeting your partner’s expectations, for example, in terms of appearance, intelligence or humor. However, it is not your job to please others. If the partner doesn’t accept you for who you are, they’re probably not the one for you.

6. You find excuses for your partner

Of course, there are times when your partner embarrasses you and this is completely normal. But if your partner often behaves in a way that you don’t approve of towards your family or friends, you should start paying attention. It’s not a good sign if you have to constantly apologize for your partner’s behavior to those around you.

7. You don’t want to leave your partner because you have invested a lot

This constant investment in the relationship makes it seem like you can’t leave your partner. You’ve given too much in the relationship to make it work. On the other hand, the longer the relationship lasts, the more you lose. If you manage to separate, you should take this experience as a lesson. After all, now you know what you DON’T want in your next relationship.
